Applying ELECTRE III in selecting the best alternative to the decyanidation of gold mining tailings
Abstract
Select the most appropriate technical alternative for the detoxification of residual solutions of the cyanidation in gold mining is the objective of the present work. In this decision making process, the multi-criteria decision analysis (MCDA) is used; specifically, the methodology ELECTRE (ELimination Et Choix Traduisant la RÉalité). Its inputs are a set of viable alternatives to achieve the proposed objective; the relevant criteria for the decision making, considering the various ambits of the problem in question; the evaluation of the alternatives and the relative importance or weight of each criterion. Applying the ELECTRE III method, the overall evaluation of each alternative is determined and they are ranked in descending order of preference. A sensitivity analysis is carried on to measure the impact of each criterion in the outranking of the alternatives.
