UWB-OFDM system model for breast cancer detection
Abstract
Telecommunications currently provide solutions in multiple areas and constitute one of the bases that drive the evolution of society by providing new technologies and allowing new solutions to be found to social problems in general. The work proposes a communication system that finds its application in medical imaging diagnosis, the objective of the system being to achieve the detection of anomalies in the breasts, with a high level of precision, thus allowing diagnoses to be made in early stages of a potential breast cancer.
The system is theoretically modeled and simulated with the help of computational calculations provided by the Matlab® programming tool. The solution brings together characteristics of different technologies and standards that were combined to model an efficient system that meets the requirements and functions necessary to constitute a feasible and viable proposal for its future implementation.
The main contribution of this work is reflected in the experimental results through the application of the FDTD method where it is evidenced that a malignant tissue (tumor) reflects in a greater proportion the power that affects this region, compared to the healthy one composed of fibro connective tissue. glandular and adipose. The spectral and energy efficiency of OFDM systems is also highlighted, characteristics that directly affect the degree of quality of the system. Finally, a simulation of the image formation is carried out by applying a novel spatial filtering method under the concept of beamforming.
